Role Overview
The Maintenance Coordinator supports the Maintenance Supervisor in assuring safe, efficient maintenance department operations. This technician-level position encompasses material procurement, inventory oversight, adherence to Operations Integrity Management Systems (OIMS), and administrative support as directed by the Maintenance Manager. The role is based offshore in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine material requirements, procure necessary supplies and services, and initiate purchase processes.
- Support the Maintenance First Line Supervisor and Planner in scheduling and carrying out maintenance activities aligned with safety, health, security, and environmental (SSH&E) plus regulatory compliance standards.
- Manage material returns including return authorizations, purchase orders, packaging, shipment, and handling exchange or repair items.
- Update daily work order status based on reports from the Maintenance First Line Supervisor.
- Coordinate daily work orders and materials, ensuring job packs are prepared for execution.
- Reconcile departmental materials and contract invoices, including verifying material receipts.
- Engage actively in maintaining effective controls within assigned responsibilities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Higher National Certificate (HNC), BTS/DUT, or equivalent in Mechanical, Materials, Corrosion, Offshore/Marine, Structural, Metallurgy, or Petroleum Engineering (with integrity experience). A bachelor's degree combined with at least 5 years' proven maintenance experience in oil and gas qualifies.
- Minimum 5 years hands-on maintenance execution experience.
- Strong knowledge of oil and gas operations, associated risks, critical equipment, and basic work management tools.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), particularly SAP for notifications, work orders, and materials lookup.
- Prior offshore or FPSO exposure preferred.
- Proficient in interpreting Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), electrical, instrumentation, and control logic diagrams.
- Practical skills in minor equipment repairs, routine maintenance, and adjustments; understanding of transmitters, sensors, gauges, control valves; familiarity with Emergency Shutdown (ESD), Fire & Gas (F&G) systems for process safety.
- Keen attention to detail with ability to identify abnormalities, maintain accurate logs, and mitigate workplace hazards.
