About the Team
The Search E-Commerce team designs and develops cutting-edge search algorithms for TikTok's expanding international e-commerce platform. Utilizing advanced large-scale machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and multi-modal technologies, the team strives to build a top-tier search engine that enhances the shopping experience for over 1 billion monthly users worldwide. Their mission centers on creating a marketplace where no quality product is difficult to sell.
Role Overview
We invite talented graduates to join us in 2026, offering a chance to engage with innovative concepts, solve complex problems, and foster extensive professional growth. Selected candidates must be ready to begin onboarding by the end of 2026, clearly stating their availability and graduation date in their applications. Candidates can apply to a maximum of two positions across TikTok and its affiliates globally, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance fundamental search quality and user engagement by refining query analysis and text-based relevance matching.
- Implement multi-modal matching techniques to effectively interpret e-commerce video content.
- Increase product credibility perception among users by actively participating in the design and development of core search features.
- Improve end-to-end shopping experiences, spanning from initial browsing through to after-sales support.
- Design and develop comprehensive ranking systems covering recall, initial, final, and mixed-stage rankings to boost personalized shopping interest models.
- Enhance shopping conversion rates across merchandise, videos, and live streams to drive Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) growth.
- Address industry and business challenges such as supply-demand alignment, business cold starts, and sustainable growth to foster long-term GMV increases.
- Collaborate in teams using relevant statistics, scripting, and programming tools alongside software deployment platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Final year students or recent graduates in Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative disciplines.
- Strong programming proficiency with a solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.
- Excellent analytical skills, capable of extracting insights and understanding core issues from complex datasets.
- Prior industry experience in machine learning and a strong product orientation focused on user experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Motivated, adaptable to rapid business changes, with good communication skills and the ability to drive project execution.
- Recognition in top-tier academic publications or conferences and distinctions such as ACM-ICPC medals are advantageous.
