Role summary
The Lot Checker helps keep parking areas orderly by identifying ordinance violations, supporting customers, and accurately entering license plate details into the parking system for citation issuance.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned parking areas and identify vehicles that are not complying with parking rules.
- Prepare and issue LAZ-approved citations when policies or procedures are violated.
- Use handheld equipment each day to download the latest work information.
- Check for permits and placards that grant special parking privileges in approved zones.
- Handle customer concerns in line with company procedures.
- Take care of all issued tools and equipment.
- Support special tasks and projects when requested.
- Report graffiti and help with cleaning work when needed.
- Provide jump-start assistance and inflate tires as necessary using company-supplied equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience and skills needed
- At least 6 months of outdoor work experience is required.
- Working knowledge of streets and directions is necessary.
- Strong customer service experience is expected.
- Applicants should be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Comfort with interpreting rules, procedures, and standard business practices is important.
- A strong sense of urgency and timely execution is needed.
- The job requires calm handling of difficult or emotionally charged interactions.
- Applicants must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
- Comfort using several software applications is required.
- Good judgment and the ability to make firm independent decisions are important.
Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- A valid driver’s license from any U.S. state with at least 2 years of driving history is required.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Parking or hospitality industry experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, wind, cold, and rain, is required.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 25 pounds is required.
- The role involves standing, walking, and running for most of the shift, about 95% to 100% of the time.
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and lifting are part of the job.
- Employees may not sit during the shift except on break and off property.
- Sweeping and changing signage may also be required.
