Loss Prevention Officer

Role Overview

This position is based at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara, part of Minor Hotels’ global portfolio of more than 530 properties across 50+ countries in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Europe, and South America.

Key Duties

The Loss Prevention Officer is responsible for protecting hotel assets, property, vehicles, documents, materials, and equipment against unauthorized entry, theft, damage, and sabotage. The role also includes supporting investigations, documenting incidents, and assisting the security team in maintaining a safe environment for guests, employees, visitors, and contractors.

• Safeguard hotel buildings, parking areas, records, materials, and equipment from theft or misuse.
• Help prepare and maintain a structured training plan, based on formal job task analysis and approved by the property loss prevention/security department.
• Record the training and certification status of security staff and other property team members as required by contract.
• Respond to security and safety situations with sound judgment and in line with company policies and procedures.
• Follow special instructions, manuals, and procedures issued by the corporate loss prevention office.
• Work with security teams and law enforcement in case of crimes, while preserving the scene for evidence where needed.
• Support investigations into theft, loss, employee misconduct, and other security incidents, and prepare incident reports.
• Assist during large events and festivals hosted by the property.

Security Systems Monitoring

• Attend to all alarms and react promptly to intrusion detection systems and related security devices.
• Keep watch over fire protection systems and ensure fire department access is not blocked during emergencies.
• Stay fully familiar with evacuation procedures and maintain readiness for fire-related incidents.
• Monitor building and parking area alarms, including gas, fire, HVAC, and other systems, and report abnormal activity.
• Track security infrastructure issues and raise work orders or escalate them to the site security supervisor.
• Observe CCTV feeds using the required checklist and report any system faults or gaps.
• Oversee the command center and issue visitor passes in line with site security rules.
• Inspect fire suppression equipment and extinguishers daily, or as assigned, and submit reports to security management and engineering.

Access Control and Patrol Duties

• Apply access control rules by verifying staff and visitor identities and managing entrances and exits.
• Control gate pass procedures for the removal of property, documents, or equipment.
• Report any attempt to enter or remain on the premises without authorization.
• Carry out routine and random patrols across different zones, varying routes to avoid predictable patterns.
• Drive safely and only on approved routes while on patrol, following site rules at all times.
• Complete perimeter patrols using the guard tour or equivalent system and raise work requests when needed.
• Support guests and visitors by offering directions and customer service during patrols or fixed security posts.
• Check buildings after closing time and confirm that all doors and access points are secured.
• Identify trespassers or unauthorized persons in restricted areas such as electrical rooms, mechanical rooms, offices, parking areas, restaurants, gift shops, pools, public toilets, first aid areas, and prayer rooms.
• Issue day passes, complete the required paperwork, and verify IDs as instructed by management.
• Monitor deliveries and suppliers, ensuring vehicles display proper company identification at all times.
• Allow entry only to authorized persons during and after normal working hours.
• Report and stop misconduct observed during patrols and escalate it immediately according to site rules.
• Prevent contractors without valid work permits from carrying out work on the premises and inform the security supervisor and engineering team where relevant.
• Provide traffic management, parking control, and pedestrian control support when requested.
• When risk levels are raised to RED, search vehicles and hand-carried items according to management-approved procedures.
• Ensure vehicle searches follow standardized site instructions during RED risk conditions.
• Maintain clean and orderly parking areas to maximize available space.
• Patrol parking zones to reduce the risk of theft and vehicle damage.
• Inspect vehicles for damage and use barricades as needed to open or close parking areas.
• Escort customers to their vehicles when requested for safety reasons.
• Check parking lot conditions using the required checklist, including lighting, signage, electronic access controls, intrusion detection, emergency phones, intercoms, emergency exits, lifts, and gate systems.

Qualifications

Applicants should present well, communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing, and have 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in the same field.
