Role Overview
The Logistics Operations Manager will be stationed onsite at the customer's facility in China Grove. This role involves working collaboratively with business leaders to define and oversee business processes and technology roadmaps. The manager will ensure smooth daily operations in a complex 780,000+ sq. ft. warehouse environment, drive performance metrics, lead change management initiatives, and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, all while respecting the customer's organizational culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison for North and South Carolina operations exceptions and reporting.
- Manage and track key performance indicators including on-time, in-full delivery (OTIF), dock-to-stock time, inventory accuracy, ticket service level agreements, and cost savings initiatives.
- Supervise daily warehouse activities and ensure operational excellence at the site.
- Collaborate closely with 3PL partners and internal teams to enhance processes both onsite and offsite.
- Coordinate with hubs, spokes, and transportation partners to maintain steady capacity and flow, including providing occasional off-shift and on-call support requiring approximately 15-25% regional travel.
- Monitor and route issues from ticketing systems, escalate problems supported by accurate data analysis, and use business intelligence tools to identify trends for corrective measures.
- Continuously improve team procedures and standard operating procedures using methodologies like PDCA, DMAIC, and A3.
- Lead or assist in cost reduction and process optimization projects, sharing best practices with customers and 3PLs.
- Maintain pilot programs, tracking systems, and comprehensive views of site activity and volume forecasts.
- Organize cross-functional meetings, record decisions and action items, and report progress concisely to stakeholders.
- Build trust with operational leaders via combining hands-on insights and data-driven analysis.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent relationship-building skills.
- Effective communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Between 3 to 5+ years of experience in supply chain or logistics roles, preferably in distribution centers, warehouses, or third-party logistics.
- Experience in defining, developing, and documenting business processes and procedures.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in high-paced environments with minimal supervision.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and project management tools; familiarity with Google Workspace considered a plus.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as PDCA.
