Job description

About the Role

This position is within the Materials department reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, operating as an Individual Contributor. The Logistics Graduate ensures compliance with legal trade requirements, managing import/export administration in line with government laws including the correct licensing of shipments. The role involves coordination across internal teams and external partners such as freight forwarders and customs officials to facilitate smooth shipment processes. Responsibilities include carrier selection, documentation preparation, and compliance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure shipment documentation complies with customs regulations.
  • Classify shipments accurately using tariff coding systems.
  • Maintain strict control over import/export procedures, adhering to corporate and local policies while incorporating new customs requirements.
  • Work closely with internal teams to schedule efficient export and import activities.
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders to guarantee logistics efficiency and resolve shipment issues promptly.
  • Maintain precise records of all shipment entries and associated documentation.
  • Assess import items' details and values, coordinating with customs brokers for smooth clearance.
  • Evaluate and select transportation providers based on quotes, services, and rates.
  • Verify goods carry proper documentation for customs clearance.
  • Ensure all operational processes are completed within agreed timelines.
  • Track product shipment organization to guarantee correctness and timeliness.
  • Facilitate effective communication with shippers and freight forwarders.
  • Conduct administrative activities including filing, reports, and managing email correspondence.
  • Perform regular audits of import/export files for accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise processing, monitoring, and approval of freight invoices through designated providers.
  • Manage premium freight costs and recoveries, aligning with corporate lanes and contracts.
  • Handle duty management and avoidance strategies, including inward processing and related revenue audits.
  • Prepare and submit monthly Intrastat reports via ROS Online.
  • Support or generate quarterly Standard Bill of Discharge reports for Revenue submissions.

Quality and Safety

  • Ensure continuous compliance with quality and industry-specific regulatory standards.
  • Adhere strictly to Health & Safety legislation and regulations.

Performance Metrics

Achievements and contributions will be measured against plant-related metrics and Management By Objectives (MBOs) within the annual appraisal process.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree qualification in Supply Chain, Business, or related disciplines.
  • Competence in MS Office suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Preferred experience in transportation or logistics sectors.
