Role Overview
The Lifeguard / Pool Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all pool users, maintaining water quality, and overseeing the operational functionality of the pool and its associated systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Constantly monitor the pool area during working hours to ensure safety of all swimmers, including children and adults.
- Maintain optimal swimming pool water quality to prevent any adverse effects on users.
- Conduct daily inspections of pumps, drains, filters, and heating equipment, promptly reporting any maintenance issues to the appropriate teams.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department to record swimming pool temperature, chlorine and pH levels.
- Manage and clean the pool's filtration system and equipment regularly.
- Supervise the circulation system ensuring it operates efficiently and provides the necessary water volume.
- Perform daily chemical testing of pool water and administer required treatments to maintain hygienic safety.
- Examine pool lighting and tiles below water, reporting any faults or maintenance needs.
- Oversee cleanliness and upkeep of the main swimming pool, children’s splash pool, and jacuzzi.
- Weekly cleaning and maintenance of the hotel's front fountain.
- Arrange sun loungers, mattresses, chairs, tables, and umbrellas around the pool area daily.
- Inspect all swimming pool assets regularly and report any missing or damaged items to management.
Requirements
- Valid lifeguard certification from an authorized government body.
- Current certifications in first aid and CPR are essential.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience as a lifeguard or pool attendant, ideally in hotel or resort settings.
- Strong swimming abilities and proficiency in rescue techniques with rapid emergency response skills.
- Basic knowledge of pool water chemistry, filtration methods, and chemical handling procedures.
- Good physical health to manage emergencies and perform rescue operations efficiently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage professionally with guests and team members.
- A positive and proactive "Yes I Can!" mindset reflected in a friendly and guest-focused demeanor.
- Compliance with hotel grooming and uniform standards at all times.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays as operationally required.
