About the Role

Ventia, in partnership with the Australian Defence Force, is seeking multiple enthusiastic Lifeguards to support the operations of gym and aquatic facilities across Defence bases in Darwin, NT. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about water safety and eager to contribute to a unique Defence environment. Ventia is prepared to assist successful candidates in obtaining the necessary Lifeguard qualification.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor swimmers and patrons to ensure safety and adherence to rules.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and conduct rescues as needed.
• Manage the opening and closing of facilities according to schedule.
• Educate facility users on water safety protocols and facility regulations.
• Ensure all safety guidelines are followed and equipment is used appropriately.
• Adhere to Ventia’s SHEQ systems and actively promote a positive safety culture.
• Work across various Defence sites located in Darwin.

About You

• Possess a Level 1 First Aid Certificate.
• Hold a current Lifeguard Certificate or demonstrate a willingness to obtain one.
• Exhibit strong swimming capabilities and a high level of physical fitness.
• Approach work with a respectful and inclusive attitude towards diverse communities.
• Demonstrate a problem-solving mindset with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.
• Hold a current Australian driver’s licence (considered advantageous).

Additional Information

Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance. This requires Australian citizenship and the successful completion of an Australian Federal Police Check.
