Job description

Overview

This fixed-term 16-month part-time role is a vital position within the Licence team, managing the administration, reporting, issuing, and auditing of Zespri Proprietary Licences across New Zealand. The role supports strict compliance with Plant Variety Right (PVR) regulations and contributes to the strategic goal of Year-Round Global Supply Excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of Zespri proprietary licences including issuing, transfers, and compliance audits.
  • Establish and nurture strong connections with growers, legal advisors, post-harvest operators, and other stakeholders.
  • Efficiently address grower inquiries by leveraging in-depth knowledge of Zespri’s operational processes.
  • Conduct GPS audits, resolve licence non-compliance issues, and suggest corrective measures; coordinate with the Finance team on licensing invoicing, payments, debt collection, and reconciliations.
  • Support pre-validation and allocation processes relating to annual licence releases in close collaboration with internal teams and legal counsel.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have experience in legal administration or contract management alongside strong documentation expertise. Essential skills include:

  • Analytical, investigative, and negotiation capabilities.
  • Experience managing disputes and engaging effectively in challenging discussions with external parties.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical and diverse thinking abilities for problem-solving under pressure.
  • Competence in reviewing legal, contract, and property documents.
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Research proficiency to analyze facts and draft recommendations for potential legal challenges.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, SAP, CRM systems, SharePoint, and other administrative technologies.
