Role Overview
We have an opening for a full-time Library Manager at Shalom College in Bundaberg, Queensland. This permanent position involves 38 hours per week, starting as soon as possible or as mutually agreed upon.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all operations of the college library, including supervising and developing library personnel to ensure high-quality services to the school community.
- Enhance the library’s role as a comprehensive resource center supporting all school curricula.
- Create and sustain a welcoming environment that promotes effective learning and teaching opportunities for students and staff.
- Develop policies and initiatives to improve digital, print, and information literacy within the school community.
- Train students, faculty, and school members to build skills in information literacy, referencing, and reading.
- Collaborate with faculty and school leadership to curate and maintain a diverse collection of print, audio-visual, and electronic resources aligned with curricular needs.
- Administer the library’s budget adhering to purchasing guidelines.
Required Qualifications and Attributes
- Commitment to and understanding of Catholic school values.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience in managing library services, information management, and collection development.
- Knowledge of modern library techniques, digital learning tools, and information literacy frameworks.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and budgetary management skills.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team environment, following guidance and support.
- Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic educational settings.
- Dedication to enhancing student learning outcomes.
Tertiary qualifications such as a Bachelor’s degree or Associate Diploma in a relevant field are advantageous. Membership in the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) is desirable.

Mandatory Conditions
