Job description
Role purpose
This position supports the Director of Legal across the full range of legal matters at Misk Schools. The role covers both internal and external legal issues and provides guidance on legal matters linked to the school’s functions, structure, and day-to-day operations, while also assisting management with wider legal concerns.
Key duties
- Offer practical legal guidance based on timely research and analysis.
- Examine legal matters in depth and prepare concise written summaries.
- Prepare and/or assess legal correspondence, contracts, and agreements, while tracking obligations to help ensure compliance when required.
- Handle each legal issue with a high degree of care to protect the organization’s legal position.
- Keep an up-to-date log of all contracts and agreements, including their current status.
- Carry out detailed and unbiased investigations when directed by the line manager.
- Support the creation, rollout, and updates of school policies.
- Work with departments to identify legal risks and recommend actions to reduce or remove them.
- Advise management on suitable responses in legal-related situations.
- Review and help implement legal policies and procedures so they remain aligned with current legislation.
- Contribute to the preparation of guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Examine school policies and legal requirements and flag possible risks.
- Follow departmental escalation routes in line with the organization’s structure.
- Assess legal agreements, laws, and supporting documents.
- Provide ongoing assistance to the line manager on all departmental matters.
- Perform administrative tasks assigned by the Director of Legal.
- Complete any other duties requested by the line manager as needed.
Safeguarding
The successful candidate must actively protect and promote the welfare of children and young people, follow the school’s safeguarding policies and staff code of conduct, and support the designated safeguarding lead as a priority to help maintain student safety and well-being.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in law is required.
Experience
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience is required.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities
The role requires strong bilingual ability in English and Arabic, along with excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, empathy, collaboration, and organizational skills. The candidate should be comfortable managing multiple tasks, working under pressure, and using Microsoft Office effectively.
