About the Role
The Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals (BIIA) in Washington State presents an excellent opportunity for individuals aiming to contribute meaningfully to state services. The BIIA operates independently from the Department of Labor and Industries and handles appeals related to industrial insurance, safety citations, and employer premiums.
As a Legal Office Assistant, you will play a vital role in managing legal and administrative documents, facilitating communication, and supporting the agency’s operations with high standards of accuracy and efficiency. This position allows for flexible remote work arrangements within Thurston County, Olympia, WA.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and route incoming electronic documents by evaluating their legal relevance and directing them to the appropriate files and recipients.
- Handle incoming and outgoing agency faxes with independence and accuracy.
- Receive and process all mail by date-stamping and scanning for digital processing when necessary.
- Support the public disclosure process, including reviewing requests, unbinding, collating, scanning, converting, reassembling, and reporting issues with documents.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following minimum educational and experience requirements:
- High school diploma or GED plus two years clerical or administrative experience.
- High school diploma or GED plus one year of legal office experience.
- Associate degree (AA) or higher plus one year of clerical or administrative experience.
