Opportunity Overview

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Legal & Corporate Secretariat, the Legal Counsel will support legal and corporate secretarial activities across the expanding business units within the Group. The role is critical in establishing robust legal frameworks to mitigate legal risks and advising on solutions to safeguard the Group’s interests.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Group’s legal and corporate secretarial operations.
  • Provide legal counsel and services supporting business functions, including contract drafting and review, ensuring legal compliance, and advising on managing legal and commercial risks.
  • Assist with corporate secretarial tasks and regulatory compliance across the Group’s companies, including board meeting and resolution support.
  • Review, introduce, and enforce best practice corporate governance policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to M&A activities by advising on deal structure from a legal perspective, undertaking due diligence, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with external legal professionals as needed.
  • Deliver legal training sessions to sales and project teams.
  • Enhance legal processes by identifying and implementing improvements to increase business support effectiveness.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Law degree qualification.
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant professional legal experience.
  • Mandatory admission to the Singapore Bar or an equivalent overseas Bar.
  • Knowledge of Singapore law and beneficially laws from APAC, EMEA, or Americas jurisdictions.
  • Proven skills in negotiation, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Experience working within corporate governance in Singapore and other complex corporate structures.
  • Familiarity with M&A and other intricate transactional matters.
  • Strong analytical abilities and advanced legal drafting skills.
  • Capability to manage and coordinate complex workloads efficiently.
  • Skillful at interpreting statutes and regulations and offering actionable recommendations.
  • Effective communication with a range of stakeholders including senior business leaders.
  • Ability to blend legal and business perspectives to deliver practical, cost-effective legal solutions.
  • Experienced in representing legal positions with government bodies and industry organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation attributes.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and work collaboratively across teams.
