Job description
Position Overview
This role is a fixed-term appointment for two years as a Lecturer specializing in Biomedical Engineering within the School of Engineering.
Key Duties
- Participate in curriculum development, facilitate learning, assess students, and manage teaching activities related to Biomedical Engineering modules.
- Lead initiatives to identify and pursue collaboration and partnership opportunities with industry sectors.
- Handle administrative responsibilities associated with effective course management.
- Engage in consultancy projects to maintain professional relevance and expertise in the biomedical field.
- Lead or assist applied research and development efforts in partnership with healthcare organizations and industry, emphasizing technologies such as assistive and rehabilitative devices, wearable health monitoring, diagnostic tools, AI and healthcare data analytics, and advanced prototyping techniques like 3D printing.
- Create operational prototypes and demonstration models for educational, research, and clinical validation purposes.
- Mentor and support students throughout their educational journey in biomedical engineering.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a relevant academic background in Biomedical Engineering coupled with a minimum of three years industry experience focused on engineering design, product development, or manufacturing related to medical technology and biomedical devices.
- Experience in assistive or rehabilitation technologies and wearable health monitoring systems is particularly valued.
- Demonstrate a strong passion for education with an eagerness to teach, mentor, and engage effectively with students.
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative learning environment.
- Be proactive, self-motivated, capable of independent work, and also a cooperative team player.
