About the Role
Cook Brothers Construction is looking for an experienced Carpentry Leading Hand to join the team in Wānaka. This is a practical leadership position for a qualified carpenter who can coordinate a site, support colleagues, and keep work progressing smoothly.
Working alongside Site Managers, Foremen, and Build Teams, you will help deliver commercial and residential projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The role involves leading from the front, staying hands-on, resolving issues, coordinating trade partners, and making sure communication remains clear between management, trades, and the wider team.
About You
You are a qualified, skilled carpenter with the ability to guide others and contribute to a positive site environment. You take responsibility, enjoy mentoring teammates, and are comfortable helping create a productive and supportive culture.
Key Requirements
- A recognised carpentry qualification from New Zealand or Australia is required.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial construction with strong structural understanding.
- Proven background in supervising or leading teams on site.
- Ability to have clear, constructive conversations and communicate well with others.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- A strong focus on health, safety, and wellbeing in day-to-day work.
- Experience in high-end residential work or a valid LBP is considered an advantage.
