Position Overview
This role is responsible for overseeing Council’s capital works program, making sure contracts are managed effectively and projects are delivered on schedule, within the agreed scope and budget, and in line with all relevant government laws, standards, codes and Council’s Integrated Maranoa Management System (IMMS).
What the Role Offers
- Permanent full-time employment with 38 hours per week.
- Stream A, Level 6 salary of $89,258.50 per year.
- Maranoa locality allowance of $72.00 per fortnight.
- A 9-day fortnight with one rostered day off.

Key Duties
- Lead the Mitchell Projects team in its day-to-day operations and provide practical support and coaching.
- Run toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and site inductions.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and performance management tasks.
- Review and approve timesheets and make sure work records are accurate.
- Help plan and deliver the capital works program, including budget monitoring and identifying cost efficiencies.
- Take part in project reviews and report on progress.
- Oversee capital works delivery from initiation through to completion.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials and contractors to meet project targets.
- Track project progress and ensure delivery stays on time and within budget.
- Maintain site documentation and provide regular reporting.
- Participate in construction and maintenance tasks when required.
- Ensure work is completed to approved standards and specifications.
- Assist with traffic control, site setup and general labouring duties.
- Promote safe work practices and a strong safety-first culture.
- Ensure employees, contractors and visitors follow site safety requirements.
- Complete and retain safety records and documentation.
- Protect Council assets, equipment and work sites.
- Support contractor engagement and procurement activities.
- Assist with tender assessments and contract administration.
- Monitor contractor performance and keep detailed records.
- Operate plant and equipment safely when needed.
- Keep accurate records for plant, maintenance and operations.
- Ensure plant and equipment are used and maintained according to Council procedures.
