About the role
This is a senior civil engineering position based in Christchurch, focused on helping deliver infrastructure that supports expanding communities across Christchurch and the wider New Zealand region. The work spans transport, land development, utilities, and public infrastructure projects.
Role overview
The position blends technical project delivery, client interaction, and mentoring responsibilities within a regional team that is continuing to grow. You will contribute to multidisciplinary work from early concept stages through to detailed design, turning infrastructure ideas into practical solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Design civil works for roads, drainage, utilities, and earthworks.
- Contribute to transport, land development, and public infrastructure assignments.
- Develop technical reports and supporting design documents.
- Guide, coach, and support junior engineers as part of day-to-day delivery.
- Partner directly with clients to address infrastructure-related challenges.
- Assist with proposals and broader project delivery across the team.
What the role requires
- A civil engineering degree.
- Approximately 10 or more years of experience in civil infrastructure design.
- Strong technical ability across civil infrastructure projects.
- Chartered status is preferred, or you should be actively working toward it.
- Hands-on experience in roads, drainage, pavements, and utilities.
- Practical knowledge of 12d, Civil 3D, or comparable software.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative mindset and an interest in mentoring others.
