Job description
About the firm
Hamilton Locke is a modern corporate and commercial law firm that aims to simplify the traditional model. The firm focuses on moving quickly, cutting out unnecessary bureaucracy, and delivering practical, thoughtful legal solutions with a strong service mindset.
Hamilton Locke is part of the HPX Group, which was recognised as one of AFR BOSS Best Places to Work 2025. The firm itself was named Law Firm of the Year at the 2025 Australian Law Awards. These recognitions reflect its commitment to doing things differently and building an outstanding experience for both employees and clients.
From the beginning, the business has been built around people. It brings together talent from around the world and places strong emphasis on the employee experience, or PX, believing that a positive PX leads to a stronger client experience, or CX. The workplace is designed to support learning, teamwork, collaboration and values-led leadership.
The opportunity
The firm is seeking a Lawyer or Senior Associate to join its growing Environment & Planning practice in Brisbane.
You will work closely with Amelia Prokuda, who has substantial experience across town planning, infrastructure and environmental law matters. Her practice spans a broad client base, including property developers, commercial clients, and state and local governments.
The work includes advising on property, resources and infrastructure projects, as well as complex issues such as statutory interpretation, development applications, infrastructure charging regimes, development compliance programs, due diligence, environmental compliance and environmental liability.
The broader team advises on a wide mix of town planning, infrastructure and environmental matters for property developers, commercial clients and local governments.
What the firm is looking for
The ideal candidate will bring at least 2 years of experience, strong exposure to environment and planning matters, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a genuine interest in working within a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
Why join
Hamilton Locke offers a people-first environment with access to quality matters, strong mentorship and opportunities for professional growth. The team is collaborative and performance-driven, with regular social events, training days and team retreats.
The role also comes with flexible working arrangements, a transparent bonus structure, an extra week of leave through the employee personal development program, birthday leave, and support in developing client relationships.
How to apply
The firm prefers direct applications from candidates. Interested applicants can apply through the provided process or contact the listed consultant for more information.
Eligibility
Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
Accessibility and inclusion
Hamilton Locke values diversity across gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, cultural background, and family or caring responsibilities. The firm is committed to offering reasonable adjustments to support a barrier-free recruitment process. Candidates who need assistance or adjustments during application may contact the recruitment team by email.
Agency submissions
The group does not accept unsolicited agency submissions unless the agency has been specifically engaged by the recruitment team. Sending candidate details to partners, hiring managers or other employees will not be treated as an introduction and will not create any fee obligation.
