Job description

Job Overview

The Laundry Worker position involves the operation of machinery for processing flatwork and tumble-dried textiles. This role encompasses the sorting, cleaning, folding, and preparation of linens, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and quality as expected by various clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort and classify soiled linens into designated categories.
  • Operate automatic cart washers and remove carts upon completion.
  • Manage flatwork ironer and folding machines, processing specialty linen items according to preset standards.
  • Perform quality control to ensure linens meet customer expectations, consulting supervisors when issues arise.
  • Label and tag linen distribution carts correctly and cover them before transport.
  • Fold and store linens while maintaining area cleanliness and organizational standards.
  • Assist truck drivers in loading linens and materials onto vehicles.
  • Notify supervisors of inventory levels or supply requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and upkeep of the work environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Prior experience in a high-volume laundry environment is preferred.
  • Strong ability to cooperate within a team to build and sustain effective working relationships.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure quality standards.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks at once efficiently.
  • Understanding and adherence to workplace guidelines and procedures.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in operating laundry-related equipment.
  • Good organizational skills.

Working Conditions

This role may require physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking for extended periods. Usage of uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) may be necessary.

Potential Hazards

Exposure risks include infectious diseases, electrical and mechanical equipment hazards, burns, blood contact, heat and humidity, and sharp objects.
