Role Summary

The Laundry Room Attendant is responsible for handling facility laundry in an efficient and hygienic way at a Dexterra camp site. The role involves using commercial laundry machines to wash, dry, fold, and store linens and uniforms used throughout the property. This position reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor and is important for keeping housekeeping operations supplied with clean, ready-to-use laundry.

• Towels and washcloths
• Staff and site uniforms

Key Duties

• Gather laundry from different parts of the facility and sort it appropriately before processing.
• Run commercial washers and dryers according to established operating procedures.
• Wash, dry, fold, and organize bed linens, towels, washcloths, and uniforms.
• Separate laundry correctly to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
• Store clean items in the designated storage locations after folding.
• Keep counts of linens and maintain records as needed.
• Clean lint traps, laundry machines, and work surfaces on a regular basis.
• Keep the laundry room tidy, orderly, and sanitary.
• Notify supervisors about broken equipment, damage, or maintenance concerns.
• Follow all required safety rules and procedures.
• Support housekeeping staff with linen distribution when needed.

Qualifications

Applicants should ideally have prior exposure to laundry work, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning. Experience with commercial laundry equipment is considered an advantage. The role also calls for a solid understanding of laundry handling, hygiene, and safety practices, along with the ability to work alone or with others. Strong organization, careful attention to detail, and the physical ability to stand for long periods and lift 35–50 pounds are important. Candidates must also be willing to follow safety and infection-control procedures.
