Overview
The Landscaping Manager at Miraval The Red Sea is accountable for maintaining and enhancing the resort's landscaping, ensuring all outdoor spaces reflect the brand's dedication to mindfulness, sustainability, and luxury guest experiences. This role encompasses managing horticultural activities, irrigation systems, seasonal planting, and supervising contractors to uphold high environmental and hospitality standards.
Key Duties
- Oversee daily maintenance and care of all landscaped areas, including gardens, lawns, trees, shrubs, and decorative plants.
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans to keep outdoor environments healthy and visually attractive.
- Inspect plant health and landscape conditions, initiating improvements as needed.
- Ensure cleanliness and aesthetic upkeep of pathways, meditation and wellness gardens, villa exteriors, public zones, and service areas.
- Coordinate seasonal horticultural tasks such as planting, pruning, fertilizing, and pest management.
- Manage irrigation system efficiency to support water conservation goals.
- Lead and mentor the landscaping team, organizing training, performance appraisals, and daily briefings to align with safety and departmental objectives.
- Promote sustainable practices by optimizing water use, supporting composting and recycling initiatives, and minimizing chemical usage.
- Collaborate with resort departments to maintain a tranquil, wellness-oriented environment for guests, promptly addressing landscaping-related concerns.
- Plan and control landscaping budgets, monitor expenses, forecast needs for plant replacements and equipment, and oversee inventory management.
- Supervise external contractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with brand quality standards and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure adherence to Hyatt policies, local laws, environmental regulations, and health and safety protocols, conducting risk assessments and safety inspections regularly.
- Maintain thorough records including maintenance logs, irrigation schedules, inventory, and monthly reports covering landscaping performance and sustainability efforts.
- Participate in capital expenditure planning for landscape enhancements.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or similar fields.
- At least 5 years of progressive landscaping or horticulture experience in luxury hotels, resorts, golf courses, or large hospitality projects.
- Minimum 2 years in a management or supervisory leadership capacity.
- Competence in irrigation management and landscape maintenance programs, preferably in arid climates.
- Experience in luxury hospitality, particularly with Hyatt, is advantageous.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Expertise in landscape design and upkeep.
- Strong horticultural and plant care knowledge.
- Efficient irrigation and water resource management.
- Pest and disease control methods.
- Implementation of sustainable landscaping practices.
