Role overview
This part-time, on-site laborer role supports grounds and landscape maintenance work in Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany. The position involves operating heavy mowing equipment, carrying out physically demanding outdoor tasks, and handling detailed site-preparation work according to project plans and specifications.
Key duties
- Run large riding mowers and other specialized mowing equipment, including machines with multiple independently controlled cutting decks, in areas where space and surroundings require careful attention.
- Use equipment that performs a single function and is controlled through hydraulic and/or mechanical systems.
- Complete labor-intensive work that calls for strong manual ability, multiple work stages, and considerable physical effort.
- Carry out detailed preparation tasks such as readying soil for sod, flowers, and shrubs by following drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Employment conditions

- Work schedules may rotate and can include evenings, weekends, and MWR special events.

- Safety rules must be followed at all times, including proper use of gloves, ear protection, safety glasses, and safe equipment-handling practices.
- A physical examination is required.
- The job requires frequent lifting and moving of equipment weighing more than 50 pounds.
- Operating large riding mowers on slopes and around bushes, trees, and other obstacles requires very heavy physical exertion and careful control.
Qualifications
- Applicants should have experience operating and controlling mowers and similar equipment in environments that demand constant awareness of surrounding space and hazards such as trees, trenches, potholes, slopes, curbs, and rocks.
- Ability to work equipment controls and levers, including lifting, lowering, adjusting, engaging, and disengaging attachments or components, is required.
- Must be able to understand instructions, specifications, and related work guidance.
- Must know how to use and maintain tools and equipment.
- Experience claimed in the application must be supported by the resume; assumptions will not be made.

This role is covered by the Federal Wage Schedule. Overtime is paid for work beyond 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week, whichever is more beneficial to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay. Employees may also qualify for extra pay when most scheduled hours fall after 3:00 PM.
Foreign overseas allowances, cost-of-living allowance, incentives, and differentials are not included.
