What you will do
- Coordinate teaching administration such as timetables, room bookings, teaching resources, attendance records, assessment arrangements, marks handling, and updates on the learning platform.
- Support practical lessons, small-group teaching sessions, CET activities, and the setup of laboratory equipment and consumables.
- Help organise examinations and invigilation, including room preparation, student identity checks, monitoring during the session, and submission handling for scripts or reports.
- Prepare and review risk assessments and standard operating procedures for classes, field trips, laboratory work, equipment use, and events.
- Assist with department safety tasks, including audits, inspections, safety briefings, emergency equipment checks, training activities, and compliance records.
- Oversee shared laboratory equipment, stock of consumables, fixed assets, maintenance follow-ups, procurement actions, and onboarding of equipment users.
- Deliver practical guidance and refresher training to staff, students, teaching assistants, and laboratory users on equipment, laboratory methods, and safety practices.
- Support departmental events such as seminars, conferences, workshops, and social gatherings, including publicity materials, website or social media updates, and technical support for hybrid events.
- Help manage software licences and ensure renewals are completed on time.
Requirements
- A diploma in Biomedical Sciences or a closely related scientific field.
- Working knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and procedures used in biomedical or physiology-related environments.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, for communication, records, and reporting.
- Strong people skills and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, students, technical staff, and other stakeholders.
- Good planning and organisational ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and logistics.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively, with initiative, reliability, and accountability.
- A positive, adaptable, and problem-solving mindset, with the willingness to learn and take responsibility for unexpected tasks.
- Strong spoken and written English for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
