Job description

About the Company

KULT FARM develops vegan meat using mycelium-based solid-state fermentation. The team is working on a novel approach to help shift the seafood system toward a more sustainable future while keeping taste, texture, and price accessible to consumers. The company’s broader goal is to reduce pressure on the environment and support long-term food security as the global population grows.

This role offers the chance to contribute directly to a mission-driven startup in its early stage.

Role Overview

As a Lab Assistant / Lab Technician, you will support research and development activities as well as day-to-day lab operations. The position also includes practical and administrative duties that help keep the laboratory running efficiently.

Key Duties

You will carry out routine laboratory work, assist with biomass production, and follow established SOPs. You will also help with pre- and post-processing steps, operate equipment and systems, and support experiments led by the R&D team.

In addition, you will help ensure that internal standards and legal obligations are met across hygiene, occupational safety, food safety, environmental protection, and HACCP requirements.

Administrative Support

Part of the role includes cross-functional support, invoice handling, shipping preparation, packaging, label printing, ice-pack packing, and sourcing common lab materials.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have strong communication and organizational abilities, enjoy working collaboratively, and bring a practical background in laboratory work.

Training or qualification as a Biology/Chemistry Laboratory Technician, Chemical Technician, or Food Technology Specialist is required. Prior hands-on experience in a lab setting is expected, preferably with exposure to the food industry and/or fermentation.

You should be comfortable working flexible shifts between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. as needed. Strong written and spoken English is necessary, while Spanish would be an advantage. Good confidence with standard computer applications is also important.

The role suits someone who is proactive, independent, adaptable, team-oriented, and careful in their work.

Working Environment

This is a high-responsibility position within a fast-moving, multicultural startup environment. It offers the opportunity to learn alongside the company, contribute to innovative technology, and take part in work that can positively affect the planet and the food system.

Additional Notes

The position is based in Berlin, Germany.

The work setting is on-site.

Shift coverage may be required between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
