Role overview
The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is hiring a Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist II for community services offices across the state. In this position, you will work under general supervision to support the rehabilitation of youth who are in custody or on probation, and help shape case plans that guide treatment and supervision.
Key duties
This role focuses on assisting with social services for justice-involved youth and helping determine appropriate next steps in their rehabilitation journey. The work includes preparing recommendations related to release decisions and setting expectations around education and employment.
Qualifications
- An associate degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university plus at least 2 years of related experience in a human services delivery environment; or
- 4 years of direct case management experience related to working with offenders and their families in a human services setting; or
- 2 years of experience in the lower-level Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist I role or an equivalent position.
The selected candidate must obtain and keep State of Georgia POST certification within 6 months of hire.
Preferred background
- A bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Related experience may include qualifying college internship or work-study work, if it is relevant and can be reasonably counted toward experience substitution.
- This role qualifies for a military incentive for current or former service members who served on active duty.
