About the Role
This position offers a full-time, fixed-term opportunity to join a dedicated and passionate team within the Victorian Public Service at Loddon Prison. The Justice Officer will provide expert administrative support and handle all matters related to prisoner property at both Loddon Prison and the adjacent Middleton facility.
About the Employer
The Department of Justice and Community Safety oversees eight regional areas, delivering compliance, enforcement and regulatory services to the community of Victoria. Loddon Prison is a medium security facility with 477 beds for sentenced male inmates, focusing heavily on rehabilitation via case management, employment, education, training and targeted programs promoting positive behavioral change. Middleton Prison, a nearby restricted minimum security correctional facility with 236 beds, shares this rehabilitative focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate as part of the Property team providing comprehensive services for managing prisoner property and inquiries under supervision.
- Accurately record, store, distribute, and transfer prisoner property and valuables following established procedures to ensure items are securely held.
- Maintain sufficient stock of prisoner clothing and other necessary supplies.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated strong computer literacy skills.
- Good understanding of relevant legislative and procedural frameworks.
- Experience or familiarity with working in a correctional setting.
Additional Information
This position involves direct interaction with prisoners and may require working on weekends and public holidays. Remuneration aligns with the VPS Enterprise Agreement, grade VPSG2, with a salary range of $60,295 to $77,430 plus superannuation.
