Job description
Role overview
This is a junior-level Technical Product Owner role focused on data within smartclip Europe GmbH, based in Berlin. The position sits in an adtech environment and is designed for someone who can turn business needs into practical technical direction, work closely with engineering teams, and help improve the reliability and scalability of data services.
Requirements
This role requires authorization to work in Germany. German language skills at a conversational level are needed. The hiring team values curiosity, accountability, and a willingness to learn more than flawless prior experience.
- A degree in Business Informatics or a similar field is required.
- Some prior exposure as a Technical Product Owner or Product Manager is helpful, though a strong technical mindset and clear ambition to grow into the role are also acceptable.
- You should have a working understanding of technical concepts such as TDD, ETL, and monitoring tools like Grafana or Graylog.
- You need to communicate well in an agile setup, understand engineers, and translate challenges into actionable solutions.
- The role calls for independent work, ownership, and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Clear, direct communication and the confidence to ask the right questions are important.
- Experience with data, microservices, or the AdTech space is a plus, and support will be provided to develop those areas further.
Responsibilities
- Convert business requirements into precise technical specifications for engineering teams.
- Work side by side with Data Engineers to refine requirements, define test cases, and deepen understanding of system architecture and data flows.
- Keep the end-to-end product lifecycle in view, from concept and build phase through rollout and live operation.
- Use tools such as Git, Jenkins, and monitoring dashboards to maintain visibility into system health and progress.
- Help simplify complex topics and drive services from basic functionality toward dependable, scalable performance.
Team and working culture
The team gives real ownership over tickets and expects people to move work forward without heavy bureaucracy or micromanagement. The environment is hands-on, focused on testing what works, and built around direct feedback, high standards, and low ego. Learning and growth are actively supported through hackathons, conferences, and community involvement.
Benefits and perks
- 30 days of vacation each year.
- December 24 and December 31 are additional days off.
- Smart Fridays, with the option of a 4-day work week.
- Mobility support, including the Germany ticket and JobRad.
- Sports and health-related offerings.
- Mental health support.
- Access to corporate benefits.
