Job description

About Alpine Business Consulting

Alpine Business Consulting specializes in correcting and improving enterprise performance management systems that have fallen short of expectations. Many organizations invest significantly in intricate planning tools only to discover implementation flaws leading to inconsistent financial figures and extended closure timelines. We intervene by redesigning these systems or constructing superior alternatives from scratch. Currently, we are assisting a client in the financial sector based in Munich to cleanse and stabilize their internal reporting infrastructure.

We operate with transparency and dependability, led by seasoned consultants experienced in Oracle EPM, SAP BPC, and modern analytics platforms. Our focus is on developing talent who can support documentation and configuration standards, avoiding corporate jargon, and delivering trustworthy, singular financial data sources.

Our methodology emphasizes fixed-price engagements and well-defined handovers, aiming to leave behind maintainable and clearly documented systems rather than becoming long-term onsite consultants. Communication and consistent output are prioritized over unnecessary meetings within our fully remote team.

Role Overview

The Junior Reporting Analyst will assist senior consultants in evaluating and enhancing financial reports. Key tasks involve auditing data transitions between systems to spot discrepancies and address them. The role requires substantial contribution to creating configuration manuals and detailed documentation for client teams following project completion.

Daily responsibilities include verifying dataset accuracy, aiding in constructing foundational dashboards, and maintaining up-to-date documentation. The position suits individuals early in their career interested in data and financial reporting, with competitive pay offered. Close collaboration with experienced consultants will facilitate learning best practices for data reliability and system architecture. As a fully remote role, effective self-management and regular communication are essential.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Basic knowledge of financial statements, such as balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, and month-end closing procedures.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas to compare extensive datasets and discover inconsistencies.
  • Strong attention to data accuracy and consistency across various reports.
  • Ability to produce straightforward documentation clarifying technical procedures for nonspecialists.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to acquire basic SQL or similar data querying skills.
  • Comfortable in a fully remote work setting, managing tasks independently and adhering to deadlines.
  • Logical problem-solving aptitude with patience to investigate data errors thoroughly.
  • Internships or academic projects involving data analysis or financial systems are advantageous but not mandatory.

Work Environment and Culture

At Alpine Business Consulting, emphasis is on delivering quality rather than sheer workload volume. We avoid superfluous tasks and emphasize accurate data and effective system configurations that address client needs. Staff are encouraged to inquire and propose improved ways to organize and document processes. Thorough documentation is regarded as critical for system sustainability and is highly valued within the team. This role offers hands-on experience with enterprise performance management complexities in a supportive remote setting facilitating skill growth.
