Overview
Fresh Tape Media, a creative production company specializing in unique social content for brands and sports media, is seeking a Junior Production Designer to join their Denver office. This role suits candidates early in their career who possess foundational skills in production design, are eager to enhance their responsibilities, and want to work with leading global brands. The position involves supporting various projects through concept development, set design, on-set participation, and vendor coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing visual references, mood boards, and design concepts.
- Contribute creative ideas during initial brainstorming phases.
- Experiment with materials and methods to ensure feasibility of design execution.
- Create sketches, mock-ups, technical drawings, and 3D models using Adobe Suite, SketchUp, LayOut, and V-Ray.
- Develop and improve production design presentations for both internal use and clients.
- Organize and maintain thorough production design documentation.
- Respond confidently to inquiries regarding production design processes from internal teams and external partners.
- Source appropriate props, set décor, and materials, balancing creative vision with budget constraints.
- Communicate with vendors, rental houses, and fabricators to obtain quotes and availability, seeking efficiency opportunities.
- Track inventory of purchased and rented items and manage logistics related to deliveries and returns.
- Build and maintain a database of vendor products and policies concerning shipping and returns.
- Support physical set building, assembly, and styling on shoot days, ensuring props and placements align with design intent.
- Troubleshoot design challenges in real time during production.
- Participate in set strike and breakdown, including planning for reuse or storage of materials.
- Assist the Senior Production Designer with coordination of the Art Department and logistics on larger scale projects.
- Occasionally serve as the sole onsite Production Designer for activations, representing the company independently.
Candidate Requirements
- Portfolio showcasing both speculative and completed design projects.
- Approximately 2 years of relevant experience, including internships, freelance work, academic projects, or entry-level roles.
- Familiarity with on-set protocols and etiquette is preferred.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, G-suite, SketchUp, and other 3D modeling or design tools.
- Strong understanding of spatial design principles and visual composition.
- Exceptional attention to detail, capable of managing multiple simultaneous projects.
- Highly organized with the ability to maintain tracking of assets, materials, approvals, and schedules.
- Excellent communication skills and openness to cross-team collaboration.
- Self-motivated individual capable of taking direction as well as working independently.
- Positive outlook, adaptable, and skilled at problem-solving.
Compensation and Work Conditions
This full-time position offers an annual base salary ranging between $55000 and $65000, depending on experience. The role is based in Denver, CO, operating on a hybrid schedule requiring onsite presence Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work possible on Mondays and Fridays. The anticipated start date is October 1, 2026, reporting to the Senior Production Designer.
