Job description
Company Overview
Duplo is a fintech startup based in Lagos, Nigeria, focused on enabling African businesses to streamline spend management, simplify cross-border payments, and gain control over their finances through one unified platform. Their goal is to bring the ease of peer-to-peer payment apps to B2B payments, which are predominantly offline in Africa. The company is supported by prominent investors such as Point Nine, Tribe Capital, Commerce Ventures, Liquid2 Ventures, Basecamp Fund, Soma Capital, YCombinator, and Oui Capital.
Role Overview
This position offers a unique chance to be the central driver of the product team’s performance, ensuring the smooth running of all agile ceremonies and owning critical internal back-office tools like Duplo Admin and Metabase, which serve several departments within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the product team's agile processes, including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to uphold predictable delivery across multiple product streams.
- Convert product roadmap priorities from Product Managers into precise, well-documented tickets and epics for Engineering and Design teams to action.
- Monitor sprint velocity, identify risks or blockers, and proactively address challenges that may jeopardize sprint or release goals.
- Manage the product roadmap and backlog for Duplo’s internal back-office platforms such as Duplo Admin, Metabase, and other tools utilized by Support, Compliance, Finance, and Operations teams.
- Collect requirements from internal stakeholders and prioritize enhancements for back-office tools, balancing them against engineering capacity.
- Continuously enhance the agile process, tooling (for example, Jira or Linear), and reporting routines, including sprint reports and delivery dashboards for leadership.
- Serve as the primary daily liaison between Engineering and Product teams concerning execution, clarifying scope, dependencies, and deadlines.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to keep internal tooling roadmaps aligned with Duplo’s overall product strategy.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Product Owner, Scrum Master, or in a similar delivery-focused product role, preferably within a dynamic tech or fintech setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities, with experience engaging multiple departments including Engineering, Support, Compliance, Finance, and Operations.
- Practical knowledge of agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban, with experience facilitating core agile ceremonies.
- Hands-on experience managing or working closely with internal tools including admin dashboards and analytics platforms like Metabase.
- Excellent organizational ability and meticulous attention to detail, adept at juggling several workflows and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Proficiency in drafting clear, actionable tickets, epics, and acceptance criteria to minimize back-and-forth with engineering teams.
- A proactive and process-driven attitude with a strong interest in optimizing team efficiency.
