Job description
About the Role
Borderless360 is looking to hire a Junior Product Designer with 2 to 5 years of experience to collaborate closely with a Senior Product Designer in developing the next iteration of their global commerce platform. This role is based in the United Kingdom and is offered as a full-time engagement on an independent contractor basis. The salary ranges from £50,000 to £60,000 annually, contingent on experience.
This position is designed for a candidate who will work in partnership with senior design leadership rather than independently managing projects from the outset. The goal is to enhance the quality and consistency of all products created.
Responsibilities
- Continuously expand and manage the Borderless360 Design System.
- Conceive and execute new feature designs and user workflows for the platform.
- Enhance customer onboarding experiences and overall usability.
- Ensure uniformity across product interfaces, marketing materials, documentation, and customer communications.
- Innovate and rethink traditional logistics user experience conventions with modern SaaS design principles.
Candidate Profile
- Between two and five years of experience in digital product design, preferably in SaaS environments.
- Formal qualifications in Product Design, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related disciplines.
- Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with design systems.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate closely with engineering teams and senior design staff.
- Strong enthusiasm for simplifying complex product interactions.
- A design portfolio demonstrating the end-to-end process, including conceptual development, not solely final deliverables.
Disqualifying Experience
Applicants focused on traditional logistics, freight forwarding, or ERP software design will be less aligned with this role. Borderless360 seeks individuals bringing contemporary SaaS product perspectives to redefine global commerce software aesthetics and user experiences.
Long-Term Goal
By partnering with senior design leadership, the Junior Product Designer will help unify the product experience throughout the Borderless360 ecosystem — spanning platform features, marketing sites, support centers, documentation, and communication channels.
Recruitment Focus on Education
The company targets graduates and early-career designers from leading design and human-computer interaction programs internationally, emphasizing institutions such as the University of the Arts London, London College of Communication, University of Brighton, University of Bristol, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Washington, UC Berkeley, Rhode Island School of Design, ArtCenter College of Design, and Parsons School of Design. This stems from a conviction that strong formal design education grounds candidates in essential areas like human-centered design, interaction design, typography, information architecture, research methodologies, and design systems combined with practical SaaS product design experience.
