Job Purpose

The Welfare Officer at a coal mining site holds a statutory responsibility to nurture harmonious relations between employees and management, manage grievances, and promote a positive work environment. This role oversees welfare activities, assists in leave management, and initiates measures to enhance workers' quality of life and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain effective communication between management and employees to support harmonious relations.
  • Raise individual and collective grievances with management ensuring timely resolution.
  • Facilitate employee adjustment to their workplace to improve productivity and working conditions.
  • Support formation and management of welfare-related committees such as Works and Joint Production Committees, Co-operative Societies, and Safety-First and Welfare Committees.
  • Provide guidance to these committees to foster participation in welfare and safety initiatives.
  • Assist management with leave policies, explaining rules, helping workers apply for leave, and managing authorized absences.
  • Inform employees about their leave benefits and address related queries.
  • Advise on welfare provisions including housing, food, sanitation, social/recreational facilities, and employees’ children's education.
  • Supervise welfare activities, including training and education, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to elevate workers' living standards and wellbeing.
  • Keep records of welfare activities and prepare annual welfare reports for authorities.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory welfare requirements and drive ongoing welfare improvements.
  • Coordinate deployment and effective use of digital solutions to boost team productivity and align with business goals.

Experience Required

Applicants should have between 12 and 20 years of relevant work experience.
