We are seeking a Junior IT Business Analyst to join a confidential Public Sector client in Ontario. This position supports a range of digital transformation and technology projects within a large enterprise setting. Responsibilities
- Assist with business analysis tasks across several enterprise IT projects.
- Collect, analyze, document, and confirm business and system requirements.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and joint application design (JAD) sessions for requirements gathering.
- Create business requirements documents, use cases, process flows, business rules, and functional specifications.
- Support business process mapping, analysis, and improvements.
- Engage in business and data modeling including business event and process flow modeling.
- Contribute to feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, and strategic recommendation preparation.
- Maintain traceability matrices and other related business analysis artifacts.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, developers, architects, QA, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycle.
- Track project progress, communicate issues and updates to leadership.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and support delivery using Agile and structured methodologies.
- Prepare presentations, briefing documents, and project documentation.
- Ensure solutions comply with organizational standards, enterprise architecture, and governance frameworks.
- Support continuous improvement of business analysis processes and standards.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience as an IT Business Analyst.
- Experience participating in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Proven skills in gathering, analyzing, documenting, and validating business requirements.
- Familiarity with structured, object-oriented, and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with developing performance metrics and supporting business analysis assessments.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and documentation skills.
- Experience preparing formal documents such as BRDs, functional specifications, use cases, process maps, workflows, and traceability matrices.
- Ability to engage stakeholders effectively and conduct workshops.
- Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous exposure to Public Sector environments.
- Experience creating business cases, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Knowledge of CASE tools.
- Experience with business process, functional, event, and data flow modeling.
- Understanding of information management principles and enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Familiarity with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and accessibility standards.
- Awareness of emerging business analysis trends and technology.
