Role Overview

We are offering a position for one Junior Clinical Fellow (FY2-CT1 level) to join the General Surgery team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, situated at Royal Blackburn Hospital. This role involves delivering clinical services in both elective and emergency general surgery for the local population of East Lancashire and nearby regions.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will provide patient-centred care, ensuring the respect of patient privacy, dignity, and individual choices. The position requires participation in an on-call rota covering emergency general surgery cases, with some responsibilities extending to cross-covering vascular, urology, and ENT cases as part of the Surgical Out of Hours Service (SOS). Primarily ward-based, the role also includes assisting in surgical theatres and supporting general and specialist outpatient clinics.

Candidate Profile

This opportunity suits candidates who have successfully completed Foundation training or an equivalent stage and intend to pursue further surgical training. The Junior Clinical Fellow will collaborate closely with Specialist Trainees, Senior Clinical Fellows, and will be supervised by Consultants within the department.
