About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Sister / Charge Nurse to join the team at Frimley Park Hospital's G2A Ward, a 12-bed Acute Stroke Unit complemented by 2 same-day assessment trolleys, and also supporting G3, a 28-bed step-down ward that ensures continuity of care for stroke patients throughout their recovery. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to assume a pivotal leadership position within a specialized stroke care setting, collaborating with senior nursing leadership and multidisciplinary teams to provide compassionate, high-quality, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and spearhead initiatives to enhance clinical quality and patient safety on the ward.
  • Support and mentor junior staff in their professional growth, contributing to training and development.
  • With proper training, assist the senior sister in managing staffing issues such as sickness, appraisals, incident and complaint handling.
  • Engage in a variety of leadership and management development programs facilitated by the Trust.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Completed Teaching and Assessing or equivalent mentorship training courses.
  • Completed relevant stroke care training courses.
  • Experience working as a Band 5 nurse within a stroke care environment.
  • Substantial post-registration clinical experience.
  • Desirable: Degree-level nursing registration.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in multiple clinical procedures: venepuncture, cannulation, drug administration, catheterisation, and ECG.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing challenging situations effectively.
  • Basic IT skills, including use of word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Ability to function both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Desirable: Teaching, training, leadership, and influencing skills.
