Junior CAD Designer, Bridges

Role Overview

Egis in Canada is looking for a Junior CAD Designer, Bridges to join its Kingston, Ontario team. In this position, you will work with engineers and senior technicians to create clear, accurate technical drawings and models for bridge and structural assignments. The ideal candidate is careful with details, well organized, and motivated to build technical expertise in a collaborative engineering setting.

What You’ll Do

• Create 2D drawings and 3D models for bridge structures, components, and details using tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or Revit, depending on project needs.
• Help prepare general arrangement drawings, reinforcement details, and construction documents.
• Partner with engineers to understand sketches, design ideas, and marked-up revisions.
• Check that all drawings follow company drafting standards, quality processes, and client specifications.
• Keep revision histories and document control records accurate and up to date.
• Support BIM model development and coordinate with other disciplines as needed.
• Assist with quantity take-offs and design presentations when requested.
• Take part in project meetings and contribute drafting-related input.
• Provide design assistance on bridge transportation projects and become familiar with client standards.
• Collaborate with design teams in other operating locations across Ontario.

What You Need

• A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a closely related field.
• Between 1 and 3 years of CAD drafting experience in civil, structural, or infrastructure work; bridge experience is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation or Revit.
• Strong accuracy and attention to detail in drawing production.
• Solid understanding of engineering drawings and basic structural concepts.
• Ability to work under supervision and meet deadlines on assigned projects.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
