Role overview

The company is hiring a Junior HSE Officer for its Qatar operations. This position supports the rollout of Health, Safety, and Environment practices across camp and site activities, with a strong focus on meeting internal policies and local regulatory requirements.

The selected candidate will help carry out routine checks of work areas, camps, and shared facilities to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and safe working conditions. The role also covers recording and tracking non-compliance findings, assisting with incident documentation, contributing to audits, taking part in toolbox talks, and encouraging safe behavior among staff and contractors. The position is best suited to someone who is comfortable working in field environments, performing regular outdoor inspections, and supporting HSE goals under guidance.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the rollout and day-to-day monitoring of HSE policies across camps, sites, and operational locations
  • Carry out daily inspections of camps, shared facilities, and work areas to confirm that hygiene, housekeeping, and safety standards are being maintained
  • Spot unsafe conditions, hazards, and non-compliance concerns, then report and track them through closure
  • Follow company HSE procedures and Qatar regulatory obligations
  • Help prepare incident reports, records, and initial investigation notes under supervision
  • Assist with safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
  • Conduct toolbox talks and basic safety awareness sessions
  • Check housekeeping conditions and verify that corrective actions are completed
  • Work with site supervisors and camp management to close out HSE observations promptly
  • Encourage a strong safety-first culture among employees and contractors
  • Keep HSE documents current, including inspection logs, reports, and checklists
  • Help with emergency readiness activities such as drills and safety briefings

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in an HSE position
  • HIRA certification
  • SAMTRAC certification is preferred
  • Training or certification in incident investigation
  • A valid Qatari light vehicle driving license is mandatory
  • Prior experience in logistics, warehousing, waste management, construction, or camp operations is an added advantage
  • Good knowledge of HSE procedures, risk assessment methods, and workplace safety practices
  • Comfortable using MS Office tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
  • Strong accountability, integrity, and a clear commitment to safety

Knowledge and competencies

  • Understanding of HSE regulations, standards, and industry best practices
  • Exposure to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
  • Ability to conduct workplace inspections, audits, and compliance checks
  • Knowledge of emergency preparedness and response processes
  • Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and risk control measures
  • Experience with camp and facility management, housekeeping, and hygiene monitoring
  • Ability to support safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs

Language requirements

  • Fluent English
  • Fluent Hindi or Urdu
  • Arabic is an advantage

Experience

The role requires 2–3 years of relevant experience, ideally gained in Qatar and in a similar HSE capacity.
