Job description
Role overview
This position is for a junior production executive based in Pune District, Maharashtra. The role is centered on supervising shop-floor operations, developing team capability, maintaining process discipline, and driving day-to-day production performance, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
People management
- Handle induction for new joiners within the assigned area, including temporary staff, and organize training sessions on a planned basis.
- Assess the need for flexibility and multi-skilling across the area, then build training plans that strengthen autonomy and a culture of improvement.
- Track certification status for each operator and keep the flexibility matrix updated in real time.
- Oversee daily matters such as absenteeism, leave, enforcement of safety rules, environmental risk checks, and updates to communication and performance boards.
- Verify that standard pauses such as breaks and meetings are followed through regular genba checks, and approve operator working time.
- Apply reaction standards consistently and escalate issues in line with procedure.
- Review the area’s main targets during monthly meetings with the team.
- Support employee engagement and help maintain a healthy and positive work environment.
- Carry out annual performance reviews, as well as salary discussions and career conversations.
Standards and process discipline
- Deliver daily on-the-job training to reinforce the standards in place for the team.
- Ensure that health, safety, environmental, and site rules are followed by all people working in or entering the assigned perimeter.
- Keep work instructions current for every station, including rework activities.
- Make sure operational standards related to safety, instructions, quality, 5S, product handling, and start-of-line readiness are respected, while also suggesting and implementing improvements.
- Set work standards with help from support teams and operators.
- Drive TPM deployment by ensuring abnormality detection, red-tag usage, routine equipment inspection and cleaning, first-level preventive maintenance, and maintenance QRQC follow-up.
- Check equipment performance on the shop floor regularly, including cycle-time studies and observation of micro-stoppages, and take action on findings.
- Conduct regular time studies with a focus on eliminating waste.
- Ensure all visual management displays in the area are updated by the end of each shift and that workers have the required materials to maintain them.
Production management
- Propose weekly headcount and line organization to the APU Manager in line with the master production schedule.
- Secure production output while meeting SQCDM and inventory goals.
- When an issue cannot be resolved at the team level, define containment and corrective actions with support functions and/or management.
- Review all daily QRAP items within the assigned area.
- Respond quickly to operational issues and escalate to APU level when required.
- Coordinate with the Supply Chain team on daily MPS priorities.
- Meet the daily MPS commitment and, if there is a deviation, take corrective action during the week after APU Manager approval so that weekly MPS is achieved by week-end.
- Engage support functions whenever needed to resolve issues raised by the team as quickly as possible.
- Monitor shift-level QCDM and keep boards updated.
- Prepare site-defined reports.
Continuous improvement
- Lead action plans aimed at improving SQCDM results against current and target performance, aligned with APU and plant priorities, including productivity plans (P-30).
- Build and sustain a strong improvements proposal system.
- Contribute to reduction of safety and environmental risks and lead line Safety QRQC for category 7 safety issues.
- Support new equipment and process start-ups.
- Lead zoning improvements with the team.
- Take part in APU QRQC reviews covering quality, direct labor efficiency, and maintenance, bringing the necessary data for effective participation.
- Drive PDCA, FTA, and Maintenance 5 Why analysis on topics assigned by the APU Manager across safety, quality, labor efficiency, TRP, and maintenance.
- Prepare LLC and Kaizen cards.
- Facilitate VPS workshops such as flow analysis, MUDA hunting, 5S, Hoshin, and TPM, and coordinate with the Site VPS Manager for methodology training.
- Participate in the weekly Site VPS committee and regularly present the status of workshops being led on the shop floor.
- Work with support functions to move improvement actions forward within the assigned area.
- Support budget preparation for headcount, overheads, investments, and P-30, and manage the area budget.
- Promote Valeo’s five axes in daily work, develop improvement plans for VPS, IP, and TQ, and work toward assigned V5000 targets.
