Job description
Role Overview
This position involves overseeing the interaction with local jobseekers and facilitating the integration of community employers into the Jobs Nearby @ CDC program. The aim is to connect residents with job opportunities through localized workforce development and job matching activities.
Primary Duties
- Lead engagement efforts with resident jobseekers and coordinate the onboarding process for community employers participating in the Jobs Nearby @ CDC initiative at community development councils and community centers.
- Offer tailored support to jobseekers by actively listening with empathy, understanding their challenges, and guiding them throughout their job search.
- Liaise with employers—including SMEs, neighborhood businesses, and community organizations—and vendors to assist with jobseeker profile creation, job posting management, and the effective use of the job portal.
- Support jobseekers in setting up digital profiles, uploading necessary documents, and navigating job portals or related platforms to submit job applications.
- Arrange connections between jobseekers and employers through in-person or online meetings, including facilitating on-site interviews.
- Monitor and track jobseekers' progress and outcomes, perform routine follow-ups, and review service delivery processes post-interview and post-placement to enhance experiences for both jobseekers and employers.
- Grow the network of community employers and foster strong engagement relationships.
- Plan and take part in events such as job fairs, learning festivals, and outreach activities aimed at connecting jobseekers with potential employers.
- Collect and report data on jobseeker registrations, employer enrollments, and success stories to support monitoring and evaluation efforts.
- Provide operational mentorship and guidance to new Job Ambassadors during their onboarding to ensure smooth adoption of daily tasks.
Additional Responsibilities
Undertake other related duties as assigned that fall outside the key responsibilities listed above.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Background knowledge in outreach, career and skills advising, community engagement, HR or recruitment, and workforce development.
- Proficiency in a second language such as Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, or local dialects to engage effectively with diverse community residents.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of addressing inquiries from employers and jobseekers with awareness of job market trends and workforce policies.
- Ability to work autonomously across various community locations with flexibility to travel frequently within the district.
- Availability to work during evenings, weekends, and public holidays when needed.
- Comfortable conducting outdoor engagement and community outreach activities.
- Demonstrates proactive, persuasive, and resourceful qualities.
