The Code Zone operates educational coding clubs for children aged 6 to 16 across Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, and West Suffolk. Our approach is designed to be engaging and fun like an after-school gaming club, where kids learn coding almost effortlessly. We are an award-winning and rapidly growing organization seeking an experienced Children's Club Manager to lead and expand our in-person clubs across the region.

Role Overview

The Children's Club Manager will oversee our network of coding clubs in Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, and West Suffolk. This hands-on leadership position involves mentoring sessions, ensuring all clubs maintain high quality, expanding into new venues, and establishing strong partnerships with schools and community centers.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on mentoring by running coding and gaming sessions helping children build games using Scratch, Python, and more.
• Perform quality assurance by visiting clubs to ensure sessions meet company standards, supporting and coaching mentors, and addressing issues proactively.
• Lead training efforts to onboard new mentors and coordinate ongoing professional development.
• Monitor club performance and develop improvement plans for underperforming locations.
• Manage venue relationships including booking community centers and other locations to facilitate club growth.
• Drive community outreach by cultivating relationships with schools and community hubs to increase visibility and membership.
• Provide day-to-day support to Local Club Mentors, including managing timesheets and staff administrative tasks.

Work Location and Schedule

The role covers multiple locations including Harlow, Loughton, Hertford, Bishops Stortford, Waltham Abbey, Cambridge, Ely, Bury St Edmunds, and Saffron Walden with ongoing expansion. A full UK driving license and personal vehicle with adequate storage for equipment transport are required due to frequent travel between sites. Working hours total 40 per week with term-time patterns focused on coding clubs; gaming sessions are held during school holidays. Additional hours are expected for outreach and administrative duties outside scheduled sessions.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary is 30,000, increasing to 35,000 after a 3-month probation period reflecting a stepped-up management role. Mileage for business-related travel between clubs is reimbursed at HMRC rates: 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, then 25p thereafter. Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience working effectively with children; coding expertise is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Management or leadership experience, either formal or informal.
• Strong interpersonal skills capable of representing The Code Zone in dealings with schools, venues, and parents.
• Residence or the ability to commute across Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and parts of North London, with willingness to travel as the network expands.
• Highly dependable, well-organized, and excellent at engaging with children.
• Willingness to complete a DBS background check.
• Possession of a valid UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle.
