Investment Director (Private Equity) - Family Office

Role overview

This opportunity is with a Singapore-based single family office that has built a strong long-term record of investing mainly in public markets. The family is now broadening into private markets, and this position has been created to lead that expansion. The role reports directly to the Family Principal and carries significant influence over investment direction, decision-making, and platform development.

You will be the first dedicated hire focused on private markets, working initially as an individual contributor with wide ownership across the investment lifecycle. As the platform grows, there may be scope to establish and lead a small team in the future. The mandate is global and covers direct private equity, fund commitments, co-investments, venture capital, private credit, and other alternative investments.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and implement the family’s long-term private markets investment plan.
• Identify, source, and originate attractive opportunities across global private market asset classes.
• Manage the full investment process from initial screening through modelling, valuation, commercial assessment, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, and closing.
• Assess direct deals, private equity funds, co-investments, venture capital, private credit, and other alternative opportunities.
• Carry out sector, market, and competitive analysis to strengthen investment recommendations.
• Draft detailed investment papers and present recommendations to the Family Principal and the Investment Committee.
• Track existing investments, review portfolio performance, and recommend actions to improve outcomes.
• Develop and maintain relationships with fund managers, founders, banks, intermediaries, advisors, and co-investment partners around the world.
• Represent the family office at conferences, networking sessions, and investment-related meetings.
• Help build strong investment processes, due diligence standards, and portfolio monitoring practices as the platform matures.

Qualifications and requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a closely related field is required; an MBA and/or CFA would be an added advantage.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in private equity, principal investing, investment banking, growth equity, venture capital, or a comparable institutional investing environment.
• A proven history of taking transactions from sourcing to completion.
• Strong capability in financial modelling, valuation, commercial due diligence, and investment analysis.
• Good breadth of understanding across multiple private markets asset classes is preferred.
• Commercially minded, intellectually curious, entrepreneurial, and able to make sound investment judgements.
• Comfortable operating independently in a lean environment with limited hierarchy and high accountability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel when necessary.
