About Flashpoint
Flashpoint is a global technology investment firm managing around $600 million in assets, primarily investing in U.S. and Western European tech companies originating from Europe and the MENA region. The firm operates eight funds across three main product lines: Venture Growth, Growth Debt, and Direct Secondary. Headquartered in London, Flashpoint maintains offices in New York, Tel Aviv, and other key financial centers.
Its Growth Debt fund offers venture lending solutions to high-growth technology companies backed by venture capital across Europe. Flashpoint values speed, thoughtful structuring, and strong relationships within the European venture ecosystem.
Role Overview
We are seeking a senior Investment Director to join the Growth Debt fund team. This position involves full investment lifecycle ownership, ranging from deal origination and detailed underwriting to investment committee approval, legal closure, and portfolio oversight. The role requires strong autonomy with leadership of investment transactions, including formulating investment theses and driving deals from initiation to funding. The successful candidate will also cultivate a prominent presence within European and U.S. venture capital networks.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the entire deal process including deal origination, initial evaluation, comprehensive financial analysis and modelling, due diligence coordination, investment committee presentation and approval, and legal documentation through to deal closure.
- Negotiate and structure deal documents such as term sheets, credit agreements, warrant instruments, and security packages while collaborating with external legal counsel and counterparty lawyers.
- Present and robustly defend investment recommendations at the Investment Committee with clarity and confidence.
- Contribute strategically to developing the Growth Debt product offering and improving fund operational processes and policies.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for portfolio companies, fostering close engagements with founders and management teams, including participation in board meetings when appropriate.
- Oversee portfolio performance by ensuring covenant compliance, managing draw requests and amendments, and proactively addressing risks up to repayment or exit.
- Expand and maintain a senior-level network within the regional venture capital ecosystem and represent Flashpoint at industry events and conferences.
- Provide mentorship and development support to junior investment team members.
- Drive continuous improvements in fund processes and contribute to the fund's strategic initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in institutional investment roles, ideally with private credit exposure such as structured credit, special situations, direct lending, or venture debt. Candidates from investment banking or private equity with credit execution experience are also considered.
- Degree in economics, finance, or a related discipline.
- Proven track record of independently leading and successfully closing investment transactions with significant personal ownership, including financial analysis, due diligence management, legal documentation, and investment committee navigation.
- Highly skilled in financial modelling and rigorous analysis of financial statements.
- Experience in structuring and negotiating legal documentation including credit agreements, security packages, warrants, and intercreditor agreements while managing external legal resources.
- Excellent communication skills, able to present confidently both internally and with external parties.
- Strong project management abilities with the capacity to juggle multiple complex processes and deliver results on time.
- Preferably experienced in the technology or internet sectors, with knowledge of technology-enabled business models considered an advantage.
Personal Attributes
- Entrepreneurial and independent, comfortable taking full ownership.
- Strong credit judgment with the ability to quickly form and defend well-reasoned opinions.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, trusted by founders, investors, and co-lenders.
- Transparent, open-minded, determined, accurate, reliable, and collaborative in approach.
- Able to manage a high workload within a volatile, transaction-driven environment.
- Effective working style in a flat organizational structure with significant autonomy.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary aligned with experience plus an annual performance-related bonus.
- Entitlement to the Growth Debt fund carry programme participation.
- Comprehensive health insurance coverage.
- Direct reporting line to the fund's partners and close collaboration with senior leadership.
- Substantial ownership of deal flow and investment decision-making from the outset.
- Lean, high-level team environment where contributions are valued and the voice counts.
- Role based in London with responsibilities covering both European and US markets.
