Role Overview
This position is part of the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Office team and contributes to implementing the CIO's strategic operating model. Responsibilities include management and analysis of public markets such as equities, fixed income, derivatives, and private markets including private credit and real estate. The role supports strategic asset allocation, portfolio optimization, investment strategy design, and governance to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in company-wide strategic asset allocation and portfolio enhancement to maximize investment results and optimize asset-liability management.
- Co-lead the coverage of public and/or private markets and drive annual strategic planning exercises for assets and investment divisions.
- Develop and enhance investment governance frameworks to uphold strong controls, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Supervise investment governance activities including asset exposure monitoring, compliance with mandates and investment risk limits, monthly investment approvals, regulatory reporting, and committee governance.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on investment regulations, oversee implementation of regulatory changes, and maintain compliance with MAS and other requirements.
- Conduct impact analyses on governance updates and regulatory notices to facilitate smooth transitions to new protocols.
- Collaborate across defense lines to reinforce governance, risk, and compliance cultures and maintain robust control environments.
- Promote the optimization, automation, and continuous improvement of governance processes to enhance control and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Risk Management or related field; advanced degrees (MBA, Master’s) or professional certifications (CFA, CAIA, FRM, CA, CPA) are advantageous.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in life insurance, banking, or asset management sectors focusing on governance, compliance, or process improvement.
- Strong investment background in equities, fixed income securities, derivatives within sizable funds or fund of funds.
- Skilled in quantitative and qualitative analysis concerning portfolio construction, investment strategies, manager evaluation, and performance attribution.
- Proven track record in investment governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and process enhancement projects.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, analytical problem solving, and a broad enterprise outlook.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing abilities at all organizational levels.
- Adaptable, collaborative, resilient individual capable of managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail, disciplined execution, and strong organizational capabilities under pressure.
- Intellectual curiosity combined with a commitment to continuous learning and a deep understanding of financial markets and investment products.
- Proficient with Bloomberg and Microsoft Office; experience with data visualization tools is desirable.
