Department Overview
The Investment Banking function at Morgan Stanley is recognized globally for its work in mergers and acquisitions, equity and equity-linked underwriting, corporate debt issuance, and high-yield financing. With specialists across multiple countries, the team helps clients evaluate and execute decisions related to strategy and financial structure.
This role is based in Mumbai and supports the Global Centers team in investment banking and global capital markets work. The position contributes to deal execution, the creation of marketing and client materials, research, analytics, and process support for coverage and product teams in Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, and Mergers & Acquisitions.
Training and Growth
The selected candidate will participate in training that covers financial analysis, business presentation skills, and hands-on work practices. Over time, the role is expected to build a solid understanding of financial concepts, the Morgan Stanley culture, capital markets, and broader market trends. Strong performers may also be considered for internal mobility opportunities internationally.
Responsibilities
- Partner with colleagues across the global Investment Banking Division to provide strong day-to-day support for client coverage and capital markets activities, including internal coordination.
- Create client and deal materials such as pitch books, information memoranda, roadshow decks, analyst presentations, and company profiles.
- Carry out financial analysis, including metric benchmarking, capital structure review, firepower analysis, and interpretation of results.
- Build and assess valuation work, including financial models and relative valuation analysis.
- Collect, organize, and synthesize financial and operating data on companies, industries, and governments to support performance analysis and client discussions.
- Develop views on industry and macro market conditions, including key themes, trends, economic indicators, and competitive positioning.
- Update and maintain databases used by senior leaders and transaction teams.
- Prepare presentations and memoranda for senior stakeholders across the firm.
- Support overall deal activity and business operations through other administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
- MBA, CA, bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Strong interest in corporate finance and capital markets.
- Excellent written English and fluent spoken English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for working with global teams.
- Good analytical and numerical skills with comfort handling financial data.
- Ability to adapt quickly, manage multiple tasks, and perform well in a fast-moving environment.
- Team-oriented mindset, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to manage expectations and remain effective under pressure.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Programming experience, coding exposure, or familiarity with AI tools is an added advantage.
