Investment Banking Analyst - Healthcare Group

Role Overview

BMO Capital Markets is looking for a motivated Investment Banking Analyst to join its Healthcare Investment Banking team based in New York. The analyst will contribute significantly to the execution of mergers and acquisitions, capital market deals, and strategic advisory projects within the healthcare sector. This position requires close collaboration with senior bankers and product specialists on complex, impactful transactions. The healthcare group services clients in healthcare delivery, health technology, digital health, medical devices, and life sciences including biopharma, offering comprehensive M&A and funding solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in executing buy-side and sell-side M&A, equity and debt financing, leveraged buyouts, and strategic advising within healthcare.
• Develop and validate detailed financial models such as operating models, valuation assessments (including public comparables, precedent deals, discounted cash flow), leveraged buyout models, and pro forma capital structures.
• Create and organize client presentations, pitch decks, management reports, information memoranda, and materials for board meetings.
• Draft and review transactional documents including credit memos, committee presentations, and due diligence summaries, coordinating with capital markets and product teams.
• Perform comprehensive industry, company, and financial analyses across healthcare subsectors such as services, health technology, medical devices, and life sciences.
• Collaborate with senior bankers to support client coverage efforts, generate ideas, and maintain ongoing client relationships.

Qualifications

• Between 1 to 3 years of experience in investment banking or closely related field with a strong background in financial analysis and transaction involvement.
• Bachelor's degree with coursework in finance, economics, or accounting, accompanied by excellent academic performance.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation, especially in M&A and leveraged finance structures.
• Interest in and knowledge of the healthcare industry; previous healthcare exposure is advantageous but not compulsory.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Adept at managing multiple projects under tight deadlines in dynamic environments.
• Excellent communication skills allowing clear presentation to senior bankers and clients.
• High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a collaborative team-oriented approach.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range is $110,000 to $135,000 annually, dependent on individual skills, experience, education, and qualifications. Compensation may vary based on location, skills, and other factors and can include commission structures and performance-based incentives.
