Investment Banking Analyst - Biotechnology

Role Overview

We are partnering with a boutique investment bank specializing in the biotechnology sector to hire a full-time Investment Banking Analyst based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This role provides support for executing deals and advising biotechnology clients by developing comprehensive financial models, researching companies and industry trends, and preparing various client-facing materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and update detailed financial models tailored to biotech clients.
• Perform both quantitative and qualitative analyses on biotechnology companies.
• Assist with valuation exercises including discounted cash flow, comparables, and transaction analyses.
• Conduct due diligence by examining financial records, regulatory filings, and industry data.
• Compile pitch books, presentations, and transaction documentation for client and internal use.
• Collaborate with senior bankers and interdisciplinary teams on deal execution tasks.
• Monitor changes and trends in the biotechnology market regularly.
• Participate in client meetings and internal strategic discussions.

Candidate Requirements

• Solid grounding in finance and investment banking fundamentals, including capital markets and corporate finance concepts.
• Specialized knowledge of biotechnology or life sciences sectors is mandatory.
• Advanced capabilities in financial modeling and various valuation methodologies.
• Strong analytical aptitude to interpret complex datasets and market intelligence.
• Proven experience with due diligence processes involving financial, industry, and regulatory analysis.
• Deep interest and understanding of biotech industry trends and drivers.
• Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases coupled with excellent communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree required in finance, economics, business, or a quantitative discipline; relevant internships or prior investment banking or equity research experience are preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects effectively, work collaboratively, and uphold high professional and ethical standards.
