Job description

Role overview

An independent corporate advisory firm with a strong standing in Australia is expanding its advisory team and seeking an Investment Banking Analyst. The business advises private owners, listed companies, private equity investors, family offices and corporates on mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, strategic reviews and wider corporate finance matters.

The platform is known for senior-led advice, strong sector understanding and precise execution across both private treaty and public market work. Its assignments include sell-side and buy-side M&A, takeovers, schemes of arrangement, capital advisory, shareholder matters, strategic alternatives analysis and corporate development projects.

This role is suited to an Analyst who wants more ownership, direct contact with senior bankers and clients, and exposure to high-quality transactions in a lean, entrepreneurial and technically demanding environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of M&A, capital advisory and broader corporate finance mandates across private treaty and public market transactions.
  • Develop and update financial models, valuation work and transaction workstreams for live deals and client advice.
  • Prepare polished client-facing materials such as information memoranda, management presentations, board papers, buyer research, strategic analyses and transaction documents.
  • Help run sell-side and buy-side processes, including buyer and investor targeting, market mapping, due diligence coordination, process administration and execution support.
  • Carry out company, industry and market research for live transactions and origination efforts.
  • Work alongside senior bankers in client meetings, transaction strategy, negotiation support and relationship development.
  • Coordinate execution tasks across active mandates while liaising with clients, counterparties, lawyers, accountants, investors and other advisers.
  • Maintain high standards in analysis, presentation quality, accuracy and execution discipline.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in investment banking, corporate advisory, transaction services, valuations, restructuring or a closely related corporate finance setting.
  • Exposure to M&A, capital raisings, public market transactions, strategic reviews or other corporate finance work.
  • Strong ability in financial modelling, valuation, analysis and presentation preparation.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, plus a strong eye for detail.
  • Commercial judgement, curiosity and the ability to collaborate closely with senior stakeholders.
  • Comfort working under pressure in a fast-moving, high-expectation transaction environment.
  • A degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Law or a related field.
  • CFA, CA or similar professional study/progression is regarded positively, though it is not required.

Why join

  • Work on high-quality M&A and corporate finance mandates involving private businesses, listed corporates, financial sponsors and family offices.
  • Join an independent advisory model focused on tailored advice rather than balance-sheet-driven transactions.
  • Benefit from lean deal teams that provide early responsibility, direct client exposure and frequent interaction with senior bankers.
  • Gain experience across private treaty M&A, public market transactions, capital raisings, restructurings and strategic advisory assignments.
  • Be part of a culture that values execution quality, technical discipline and long-term client relationships.
  • Have a clear growth path toward becoming a trusted corporate adviser for strong performers.

Additional information

Applications are handled confidentially. Candidates with backgrounds in investment banking or corporate advisory who want broader transaction exposure within a high-quality independent advisory platform are encouraged to express interest by sharing a CV directly with the recruiter.
