Investment Analyst

Role overview

This role is part of a global asset manager’s investments team and works closely with the Investments Manager. The position covers the entire investment process, including early-stage research, financial analysis, deal execution, portfolio oversight, and support for investment committee decisions.

Core responsibilities

• Work with the Investments Manager to review investment opportunities, complete transactions, and track the results of the current multi-asset portfolio.
• Carry out market research, build financial models, prepare valuations, perform due diligence, assess investment structures, and review legal documentation.
• Support analysis and research across listed equities, fixed income, real estate, private equity, alternative assets, funds, and direct investments.
• Create, validate, and update financial models for both existing investments and potential new opportunities.
• Track portfolio company and asset-class performance, and evaluate new investment prospects.
• Run valuation work, return analysis, and sensitivity testing.
• Prepare performance reviews, market analysis, system inputs and outputs, and custom reports.
• Maintain and improve Excel-based systems, tools, and spreadsheets.
• Assist in building presentations for the investment committee.
• Coordinate with investment and brokerage firms, and use Bloomberg, Reuters, and Refinitiv Eikon for market data, fund analysis, and research.
• Place trading orders when the Investment Manager is not available.
• Work with accounting and operations teams to keep accounting records accurate and reconciled.
• Support annual audits and other recurring review processes.
• Contribute to special assignments and any additional tasks as required.

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate should have a strong finance background, excellent analytical ability, and hands-on exposure to investment management processes. Advanced Excel and transaction modelling skills are essential, along with professional communication and reporting capabilities.

Education and qualification requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business is required.
• Progress toward a CFA, MBA, or another relevant investment management qualification is strongly preferred.
• Applicants should have 6–8 years of total work experience, including at least 4 recent years in asset management, investment management, corporate finance, equity research, or investment banking.
• Experience with Middle East and/or global markets is expected.
• Advanced MS Excel skills, including transaction modelling, are needed, along with strong working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
• Practical experience with Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, and Refinitiv Eikon is required.
• Business-fluent English is mandatory, and Arabic is preferred.
• Candidates should bring strong knowledge of multi-strategy and multi-asset class investment management.
• Familiarity with investor relations, sustainability, and ESG reporting is an advantage.
