Investigations Analyst, Child Safety

Role overview

The Central Investigations team at Meta works to reduce harm on Meta products by using deep investigative expertise to spot, assess, and help mitigate safety risks. This role is focused on complex, high-impact child safety investigations and on identifying networks or behaviors that could enable harm against minors and other vulnerable groups. The position suits an experienced investigator who can make sound risk-based judgments, handle large datasets, and partner closely with teams across the business in a fast-moving environment.

What you'll do

• Examine difficult cases and perform detailed analysis of threats to minors, especially child sexual exploitation activity that may appear across Meta technologies.
• Assess safety concerns involving minors and evaluate how malicious actors may attempt to target children and other vulnerable people.
• Run multiple investigations at the same time, setting priorities by severity, impact, and deadlines.
• Trace abusive activity to its sources and judge the reliability of threat signals quickly and accurately to reduce the risk of harm.
• Partner with Policy, Engineering, Integrity, and other analytic or investigative teams to improve detection of behavior that breaks Community Standards.
• Collect, review, analyze, and combine relevant data to uncover possible abuse patterns.
• Regularly review graphic and sensitive material as part of the investigative work.

What we're looking for

Meta is seeking someone with a strong investigative or analytical foundation, proven experience working with child safety or other online harm issues, and the ability to operate independently under pressure. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling confidential information, communicating clearly, and working with substantial volumes of information to identify credible risks.

Minimum qualifications

• Ongoing commitment to developing AI skills and keeping up with new AI tools and technologies.
• Ability to work on your own in high-pressure situations and make reliable decisions with minimal oversight.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in investigations or analysis within law enforcement, security, risk, or safety-related work.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent investigative and analytical ability, including fast review of large data sets to find important and credible information.
• BA/BS degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Knowledge of child safety issues, especially as they relate to social media platforms, analytical tools, and online research tools.
• Experience handling sensitive matters involving graphic violence, graphic content, and/or CSAM.
• Demonstrated ability to protect highly confidential information.
• Investigative or analytical background related to online harms affecting children and vulnerable populations.

Preferred qualifications

• Ability to communicate in languages other than English, since content review or cross-team collaboration may involve non-English regions.
• Experience with open-source investigations or investigations conducted for a technology company.
• Prior child safety investigation experience, ideally in a technology-company setting.
• Experience working with distributed teams across multiple locations and time zones.
• Advanced AI skill development, such as prompt/context engineering or agent orchestration, and familiarity with emerging AI technologies.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, or similar analytics programming languages, plus data visualization tools.
• Ability to apply AI tools to improve workflows and deliver measurable gains in speed or quality.
• Experience using responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and accuracy reviews.

Compensation and benefits

The base pay range for this role is $141,000 to $199,000 per year. In addition, the compensation package may include bonus, equity, and benefits. Actual pay depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The listed figure reflects base annual salary only and does not include bonus, equity, or sales incentives where applicable.
