Job description

About The Opportunity

First Table is transforming Business Intelligence, and we seek a professional eager to help shape this evolution. This role offers a unique intersection of business consulting, analytics engineering, and BI, blending data insights with technical and commercial decision-making capabilities.

Success here goes beyond technical skills; it demands a consulting approach—curiosity, commercial awareness, and confidence in engaging stakeholders to convert business challenges into actionable, data-informed solutions.

The role involves close collaboration with our Data Engineer and Data Scientist, working closely with Marketing, Product, and Commercial teams. Half of your time will focus on understanding business problems and framing solutions, with the remainder dedicated to designing data models, developing Power BI dashboards, and delivering impactful insights.

If analyzing business challenges excites you as much as crafting impactful dashboards, this is the right role for you.

About Us

First Table, headquartered in Queenstown, New Zealand, is a pioneering hospitality tech company with over a decade’s presence across New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom. We connect diners and restaurants through smart technology, facilitating early bird and last table bookings, thereby enhancing dining experiences and restaurant operations.

Our core values—Win-Win-Win, Own It, and Grow Together—define our culture and commitment to employees, partners, and customers, creating a vibrant work environment.

  • Collaborate actively with the Data Engineer to enhance data platform and BI functionality continually.

Candidate Profile

  • 3-4 years' experience in data analysis, business intelligence, analytics engineering, or consulting, blending technical proficiency with stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficient in SQL, preferably within Snowflake or similar cloud warehouses.

  • Strong grasp of dimensional modelling concepts such as Star Schema, Fact and Dimension table designs.
  • Familiarity with commercial data sets like marketing performance, product analytics, or sales reporting.
  • Confidence in leading stakeholder workshops and translating requirements into reporting products.
  • Excellent communicator able to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with analytics tools like Google Analytics, Amplitude, or equivalent event-tracking platforms.
  • Degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Commerce, or relevant field, or corresponding professional experience.
